Marie France Forcier, dancer Molly Johnson and composer James Bunton teamed up in July 2011 to create Sink. The 15 minute solo, showcasing Molly Johnson’s range as a performer and incredible charisma, introduces a character trying to get a grip on reality, or what she believes to be reality. Afflicted with a depressive disorders, the piece is a representation of what is going on in her mental space. What are her thoughts, her fears, the memories she decides to recall, and how her disorder tints every aspect of her perception. She perceives things which we, audience, cannot see, and follows their path to explore their meaning and hopefully make sense of her world once again.

Lab Rats, FSW’s next production opens November 20th!

Forcier Stage Works is currently working on the last stage of development of its next full length production, Lab Rats.

The program, presented at Hub 14, offers an exciting stylistic departure from FSW’s previous body of work. Mark the dates: the intimate nature of the venue will create a unique experience and only seat a few, make sure to book in advance.

Choreographed by Marie France Forcier under the mentorship of Julia Sasso and composed by James Bunton, Lab Rats’ will open November 20th. Cast include Heather Berry-MacPhail, Marie France Forcier, Molly Johnson and Brendan Wyatt. Box Office details coming soon.

The project’s second developmental stage was made possible by the contribution of The Ontario Arts Council and The Toronto Arts Council.

Guest choreographer at L’École de Danse de Québec

FSW’s artistic director Marie France Forcier recently returned from Québec City where she created Rebours for L’École de Danse de Québec’s professional division graduating class. The students really made the best of their time with Forcier and look fantastic in the athletic and textured trio she choreographed for them.

The piece, set on a score by James Bunton, premiered in Québec City’s Théâtre de la Bordée on May 22nd and 23rd 2011.

BLISS

The 2009-2010 season marked the presentation of Forcier Stage Works’ first commission by a guest choreographer. Acclaimed dance and film artist Sharon Moore created BLISS for Heather Berry, Marie France Forcier, Molly Johnson, Erika-Leigh Stirton and Brendan Wyatt. The piece was later nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Choreography.
